About Alpha Signs & Embroidery
My mother, Linda Morgan, started the business in her home in 1989 & it was known as Linda’s Screenprinting. The company printed T-shirts, sweats, hats, and signs. I was working at Cairn Studios as a Mold Maker. Wanting to be self-employed, I left that job in March of 1995 to join my mother in the screenprinting business. We changed the name to Alpha Screenprinting and rented a building at 205 N. Tradd St. That year we bought an Ioline Studio 8 vinyl cutter and started to produce vinyl signs along with the screenprinting we were already doing. We changed the name to Alpha Signs & Screenprinting to reflect that we were doing more than just printing t-shirts. Business grew and in 1999 we purchased a commercial embroidery machine. I took training in digitizing so we could duplicate customer logos in-house and convert them to embroidery files. We changed the name to Alpha Signs & Embroidery to reflect this new service. However, we continue to make custom signage, screenprint textile goods, and embroider logos on golf shirts, hats, jackets etc. In 2003, Iredell county purchased the building that we occupied on North Tradd St. & demolished it to make way for a parking lot for the new Iredell County Library. We moved to 248 N. Center St. while we were having our own building built on land that we had previously purchased. We moved into our new building that we now occupy at 321 S. Tradd St. in May of 2004. In 2005, we purchased an Inline Technologies number machine that enables us to number athletic uniforms in one & two colors efficiently. We also purchased a Tajima embroidery machine in 2005 to double our embroidery capacity.
My mother, Linda, and I are partners in this business. My wife Debbie, helps out when needed, along with my daughter Molly, age 15, and my son Paul, age 12. They are great help. My father, Jim, helps out with installations.
